It can be quite hard to find a suitable educational psychologist to assess your child if you think s/he may be dyslexic. When you telephone to arrange an appointment, ask if the psychologist has much experience in assessing children for possible dyslexia. You want to find a psychologist with strong experience in assessing children because your child may also be suffering from some other condition such as Attention Deficit (ADHD). Use the listings below to find a local dyslexia organization. They will have had lots of experience of assessing children for possible dyslexia, and will probably be able to give you the contact details for a recommended educational psychologist who specializes in dyslexia assessments.
Internet Special Education Resources - a US and Canada directory of professionals who serve the learning disabilities and special education communities. We help parents and caregivers find local special education professionals to help with learning disabilities and attention deficit disorder assessment, therapy, advocacy, and other special needs. (Hoping to expand their listing into the UK). |
